Process

Sara Jo begins her work by analyzing aspects of nature and researching historical records to give substance to the idea she wants to explore. Based on the dictates of the design, she incorporates a variety of clay techniques including slab building, slip casting and molding, and adds elements from the natural world (wood, metal, hair, stone, bone, etc.). The final work is both representational and conceptual.
